In 2017 Empire Oyster Founder Kevin joseph saw a boaT WHILE STAND UP PADDLE BOARDING IN TIERRA VERDE, FL…

…and knew right then and there he wanted to buy it. His dream was to refit it and operate it as a seagoing Oyster Bar featuring the finest oyster service as well as top quality Marine Cuisine™ & DelicaSEAS™.

The dream is coming true. Kevin purchased the vessel in February 2019. He is now preparing it for service and a delivery to Huntington, LI where it will operate in the Summer of 2019.

ABOUT THE VESSEL

Currently named Dare 2 Dream, RAW BARGE is a 52’ Tug Boat built in 1959 in Louisiana. She turns 60 in 2019 and we plan to celebrate that with the plan below. She makes 6 knots @ 1200 RPM and is powered by a single Detroit 6-71 Diesel. She’s an Iron Maiden, made of steel and weights 50 tons. She can sleep up to 8 and has a 30’ x 12’ Topside Deck above the Salon which houses a galley, dining room and head. She also has 2 staterooms for Captain, Crew or Guests.

THE PLAN & 2019 - 2020 SCHEDULE

If all goes to plan, we’ll then depart St. Petersburg, FL on or around April 20th on our journey Northward. Our first stop will be Sarasota and from there we’ll continue on to Fort Myers before we (hopefully) head ACROSS the state to Stuart, FL. If we can't get across the stage, we’ll head AROUND the state with quick stops in Naples, Marathon and Miami. Continuing then due North we’ll visit Jacksonville. Beyond that we are targeting stops in Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington NC, Norfolk, Tangier Island, VA, Annapolis, Wilmington DE, Atlantic City, New York City, Greenwich, CT. We should arrive in Huntington on or around June 3. From there we’ll offer Huntington Harbor and Long Island Sound charters along with dockside lunch service until Aug 1. After that we hope to do a little lap around Long Island to ports like Southampton, East Hampton, Montauk, West Hampton, Babylon, Jones Beach, The Rockaways and arrive in NYC around Sept 15th for the start of New York Oyster Week. We’ll offer daily & nightly service out of NYC Sept 15-30. Beyond that, we only know we will head back south again in November. Destination: Miami. We’ll operate there in a Dec - Feb time frame, being in town for Super Bowl LIV. Hopefully, we’ll move back to St Pete until we start the next trip North in April 2020. So, that’s the plan. Lets see what happens!
