In 2017 Empire Oyster Founder Kevin joseph saw a boaT WHILE STAND UP PADDLE BOARDING IN TIERRA VERDE, FL…
…and knew right then and there he wanted to buy it. His dream was to refit it and operate it as a seagoing Oyster Bar featuring the finest oyster service as well as top quality Marine Cuisine™ & DelicaSEAS™.
The dream is coming true. Kevin purchased the vessel in February 2019. Since that time he prepared it for a delivery to Huntington, LI where it will operate in the Summer of 2019. On June 17th, 2019, she arrived in Huntington after a short stay in Newport, RI, where she was brought by a freighter from The Bahamas.
ABOUT THE VESSEL
Currently named Dare 2 Dream, RAW BARGE is a 52’ Tug Boat built in 1959 in Louisiana. She turns 60 in 2019 and we plan to celebrate that with the plan below. She makes 3-8 knots @ 1200 RPM (depending on the conditions) and is powered by a single Detroit 6-71 Diesel. She’s an Iron Maiden, made of steel and weights 89,000 pounds She does not get pushed around in small or medium seas like other boats her size. She can sleep up to 8 and has a 30’ x 12’ Topside Deck above the Salon which houses a galley, dining room and head. She also has 2 staterooms for Captain, Crew or Guests. THE PLAN & 2019 - 2020 SCHEDULE
She left St Pete on April 28th. Made it to Palm Beach on May 6th. From there she went to Freeport, Bahamas and was put aboard a freighter for transport to Newport, RI. We collected her there in early June and by mid June we motored to Block Island, Montauk and, finally, to Huntington, LI, where she is now.
Our plan for 2019 is to offer an exceptional food & beverage experience “on the ball” in Huntington Harbor.
Enjoy sunset paired with our signature Marine Cuisine™ and DelicaSEAS™ while moored in Huntington Harbor. Summer service runs 7pm - 8:30ish. Catch the launch from Knutson Marine West and in 3 minutes you will be aboard.
